‘Bangladesh is now role model in various sectors’

CU Journalism dept Silver Jubilee celebration ends

The tow-day long alumni reunion and Silver Jubilee celebration of Departmetn of Communication and Journalism of Chittagong University ended on Friday. 

The colourful programmes began on Thursday. CU Communication and Journalism Department, and Communication and Journalism Alumni Association (CUCJAA) jointly organised the event.

Planning Minister MA Mannan was present at the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while Vice Chancellor of Chittgong University Prof Dr Shireen Akhter inaugurated the programme on the campus by releasing balloons. The colourful rally paraded different roads on the campus. 

In his speech, MA Mannan said that we search role model abroad. But we have role model scientists, leaders and others in the country. We have to search them in the country as Bangladesh is now role model in various sectors, including economic development. 

He also said that journalism is a respected profession. The students of Communication and Journalism department of Chittagong University can play vital role for the society, he added.  

   M Abul Kalam Azad, Chairman of the department, presided over the inaugural ceremony in the first day of Silver Jubilee celebration while PHP Chairman Sufi Muhammad Miazanur Rahman, and Prof Dr Farid Uddin Ahmed, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences spoke there as special guests. Assistant Professor of the department Farzana Karim and Mashranga TV Bureau Chief Tajul Islam conducted the function, while Hamid Ullah, General Secretary of CUCAJAA, delivered the welcoming speech. Cover of a souvenir was unveiled in the inaugural ceremony. Cultural function was also held in the first day. 

The recollection of memories of the formers students were held at Hotel Radisson Blue in Chattogram on Friday. The celebration ended through cultural event.  Mentionable, the Communication and Journalism department started its journey in 1994.
