The relationship between India and Bangladesh is not just a friendship, it has been achieved from sacrificing life and blood. The relationship between the two countries is historic, profound friendly and attached to blood.
Sayeed Khokon Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) said the above while addressing a meeting titled, ‘Promoting Women's Education and Women’s Empowerment’ at the Mohanagar Mohila College in Laxmi Bazar in the capital on Tuesday.
He said, “Bangladesh has witnessed substantial improvements. Women’s contribution in the economy is huge. They represent about fifty percent in workforce. Women are working in high positions, play responsible roles with men in different sectors including politics and economy.”
The mayor also said, “All has been possible because of the devoted contribution of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She has given utmost importance to the promotion of women education and the empowerment of women. As a result, the gap between men and women has reduced to a notable extent.”
Speaking on the occasion as special guest, referring to Bangladesh being India’s closest friend among the neighboring countries the Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das said, “India has a strong bonding with Bangladesh in terms of medical, travel, economy, trade, investment, culture, etc. The relationship is deep and spiritual.”
The high commissioner said that about the students, “Only education can change life, can change the generation, and change the family and society. One can become confident and develop himself in his own field through proper education.”
Referring to the development initiatives taken by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, she said that the girls of this country have made a remarkable progress in different fields.
Khokon added, “The economic progress of both countries is significant. Bangladesh’s economic growth is extraordinary. The two countries are moving forward by maintaining mutual friendly relations.” Riva Ganguly referred to the various scholarships offered by India to encourage the students to concentrate on taking the opportunities. The Principal of Mohanagar Mohila College Brig Gen Monirul Islam resided over the meeting.
