The government has taken initiative to improve the quality of homeopathic medical education and treatment in Bangladesh in line with the world standard.
As part of the move, the government is going to enact a fresh law. The proposed law titled ‘The Bangladesh Homeopathic Medical Education Bill, 2023’ was placed in the Parliament on Monday (October 23).
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque placed the bill in the House and it was sent to the respective parliamentary committee for scrutiny. The committee was asked to submit its report within four days.
After placing the bill, Zahid Maleque said that the bill was placed aiming to bring the homeopathic medicine system in order.
Currently, there is a homeopathic board in the country and it would be replaced by a council after enactment of the proposed law.
As per the bill, the council will be governed by a 17-member Board of Directors. This council will supervise the homeopathy treatment, services and medicines in the country. However, there will be an executive committee of 10 members.
The bill said that the council will register the homeopathy physicians of the country and maintain a registry book in this regard and it would be updated from time to time.
