Bangladesh has entered the semiconductor era: Palak

State Minister of Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak pointed out that Bangladesh has entered the semiconductor era and said that through the country's talented engineers, Made in Bangladesh will earn 10 billion dollars by exporting chips by 2031. ‘Ulkasemi’ is one of the examples of the fact that the talented youth of this country are not behind anyone in their talent and creativity. He said the tax exemption for the ICT sector will be extended from 2024 to 2030. He also said that Startup Bangladesh will give them investment for the development of ‘Ulkasemi’.

The state minister said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the inauguration of "Test Lab" on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of ‘Ulkasemi’, the country's famous semiconductor design company, at Rahmans Regnum Center in the capital on Thursday.

Referring to the night-day difference in Bangladesh after 2008, Palak said that 20,000 university graduates will be trained to build future-oriented skilled manpower through the ICT Department's Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) project. Out of this, 4,000 people will be skilled in frontier technology. Besides, VLSI labs will be established in 10 universities. At the same time, although it is not possible to spend 300 million in a short time, we will set up a nano lab in BUET by investing 15 million dollars, he said.

Among others, Ulkasemi Chairman Enayatur Rahman, Ulkasemi COO and its subsidiary Titon Electronics CEO Mizanur Rahman, former Cabinet Secretary Anwarul Islam, IPDC Finance Chairman Dr. Abdul Karim, FBCCI Director Shafkat Haider Chowdhury, Startup Bangladesh Managing Director Sami Ahmed were present.
