Bangladesh finds 2,735 coronavirus cases in a day, 42 die

Bangladesh on Monday recorded 42 deaths from coronavirus which was the highest single-day Covid19 deaths for the second consecutive day.

During the last 24 hours till 8am, the government also confirmed 2,735 new patients. With that, the number of death rose to 930 and cases 68,504.

Additional Director General for Health Prof Dr Nasima Sultana disclosed the figure at the daily virtual briefing and said they had tested 12,944 samples in 52 labs during the period.

Of the deceased, 33 were men and nine were women. Of them 25 patients were from Dhaka division, eight from Chattogram, two each from Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal and one each from Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Rangpur divisions.

According to the latest data, 21.25 percent coronavirus infected patients have recovered, of whom 71 percent were male and 29 percent female.

In the last 24 hours, 657 more patients made recovery. With that, so far 14,560 people have recovered from the disease.

Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 21.25 percent and the mortality rate is 1.36 percent in the country.

The infection rate was 21.13 percent on Monday.

The age-based analysis of the deceased shows that one was aged between 11 and 20 years, three were aged between 21 and 30 years, one between 31 and 40, seven between 41 and 50, 10 between 51 and 60, 12 between 61 and 70, four between 71 and 80, two between 81 and 90 and two more were aged between 91 and 100 years.

Across the country, 297 more people were taken to isolation in the last 24 hours while 144 were released. Currently, 7,552 people are in isolation.

During the same period, another 2,228 people were home and institutionally quarantined and 1,852 were released. At present 56,072 people are quarantined across the country.
