Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to formally inaugurate the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT Line)-6 of the much-awaited metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon today. The metro rail will be able to carry 60 thousand passengers per hour and half a million passengers per day and one train will arrive at each station every four minutes.
We express our optimism over the grand gala inauguration of metro rail as its wheels start rolling from today and Bangladesh enters the era of electric trains. We are delighted to witness the opening of metro rail to traffic.
Dhaka is the second largest city in South Asia and the seventh largest in the world in terms of population. City people believe the metro rail will reduce public sufferings, which will be able to transport more passengers in a less time.

The construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge has already created a perception that “Bangladesh can do” and it has brightened the country’s image in the world. The next year 2023 will be milestones for Bangladesh in terms of infrastructure development.
According to a study, around 23,000 people are living in every square kilometer of the capital city. As a result, traffic congestion is a common phenomenon in the city.
After assuming power in 2009, the Awami League government took various initiatives to ease traffic congestion in capital Dhaka.. It is clear to all now that Bangladesh is progressing rapidly braving all odds and plots but its development is now visible.
We believe no obstacle can halt the progress of Bangladesh, while it will be transformed into Sonar Bangla, dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under the leadership of his worthy daughter Sheikh Hasina.
The government should reduce the fare of the metro rail to make the service more people-oriented and effective. Besides, the authorities concerned should inspect these trains and their coaches and maintain properly in order to keep them components in good and serviceable condition.
