Bangladesh enters biotech plasma technology era

Bangladesh has entered the era of biotech plasma technology which will pave the way for the development of life-saving drugs by analyzing blood plasma. 

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this while speaking as the chief guest at the ground breaking ceremony of China-based multinational company "Oryx Biotech Plasma Fractionation Plant" at Bangabandhu Hi Tech Park in Kaliakoir, Gazipur on Monday. 

Terming setting up of a biotech plant by Oryx a timely step, the state minister said that, "Oryx Biotech is investing US$ 300 billion in the project, which will create employment opportunities for about 2,000 people with science and technology backgrounds and stop imports worth Tk 1,000 crore related to this sector". 

"Bangladesh has been successful in tackling Covid-19 due to the use of Digital Bangladesh platform and the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," added the state minister.

He said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had coordinated both life and livelihood by dealing with the coronavirus pandemic with lockdown and lifting if necessary. Safety management of coronavirus vaccination programme has been praised by the world". 

He called upon all to come forward to build a knowledge and information-based Bangladesh through successful implementation of biotechnology. 

Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Kazi Shakil, Chairman of Summit Group's Oryx Biotech Limited, David Bow, Managing Director of China Oryx Biotech and Liu Jinhua, Commercial Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh spoke on the occasion.
