Bangladesh embassy in Japan celebrates Sheikh Mujib’s 104th birth anniv

Bangladesh embassy in Japan’s Tokyo observed the 104th birth anniversary of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2024 with due fervor and solemnity on Sunday.

On this occasion, a discussion meeting was organised at the embassy on Sunday morning.

At the beginning of the programme, members of Bangladeshi community, Japanese guests and embassy officials led by ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed laid floral wreaths on the portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Later, ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed formally hoisted the national flag with rendition of the national anthem on the embassy premises.

A special prayer was offered for the peace and forgiveness of the souls of Sheikh Mujib and the martyred members of his family, martyrs of the Liberation War and for the welfare of the country and the nation.

Then the messages given by the president, the prime minister and the foreign minister on 104th birth anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day was read out.

During the discussion, ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmad humbly recalled the contribution of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the history of Bengali’s struggle for freedom.

He said that Bangladesh was born through the long movement and bloody liberation war led by Sheikh Mujib. The ambassador highlighted the steps taken by Mujib to protect children’s rights and safeguard children’s interests.

He said that today’s children would be the future leader in building a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh by 2041 as announced by prime minister Sheikh Hasina. For this, he urged everyone to raise their children in the spirit of the 

liberation war and the ideals of Sheikh Mujib.

Japanese guests and leaders of the Bangladeshi community living in Japan participated in the open discussion.

After the discussion meeting, prizes were distributed among the winners of painting and essay competition organized by Bangladesh embassy marking the birth anniversary. Bangladeshi children living in Japan participated in the competition held on March 16.
