The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has organised a photo and graffiti exhibition titled “July Beyond Borders” to mark the first anniversary of the July Mass Uprising of 2024 in Bangladesh. The exhibition was held on the embassy premises and attracted a wide range of visitors from Nepal and the international community.
Ambassadors from different countries, SAARC Secretary-General Md Golam Sarwar, officials from UN organisations, former Nepali ambassadors to Bangladesh, businessmen, doctors, artists, civil society representatives, students, and professionals attended the event. Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman and members of the Bangladeshi community in Nepal were also present. The exhibition featured powerful photographs and graffiti artworks created during the uprising, offering a striking portrayal of the struggle. According to the embassy, the works highlighted the intensity of the protests, the grief of loss, and the determination of people who united for change. The organisers said the exhibition aimed to share the heroic story of Bangladesh’s people with Nepal and the broader international community.
A visiting delegation from Bangladesh also joined the event. The team included Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, NCP first senior joint member secretary Tasnim Jara, and NCP joint secretary Mir Arshadul Hoque, among others. They also participated in the “Hindu Kush Himalaya Parliamentarians’ Meet” during their stay in Kathmandu.
The embassy said this exhibition is part of a wider series of commemorative events it has been hosting since July 16, remembering the July–August Mass Uprising. Through art and photography, the embassy hopes to build stronger cultural and historical connections with Nepal while keeping alive the memory of a defining chapter in Bangladesh’s struggle for justice and democracy.
