Director General of the Department of Health Prof Dr Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said that Bangladesh is doing much better than other countries in the world in improving the quality of healthcare for Covid-19 and non-Covid patients.
He made the remarks while addressing an exchange meeting with Chittagong Health Department officials at the Health Director's Conference Room adjacent to Cinema Palace on Loyal Road in the city on Saturday night.
Prof. Dr. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said that the situation of COVID-19 in the country is under control as the Prime Minister himself has dealt with it with a strong hand. Many doctors have died and been infected while trying to take care of corona patients at the risk of their lives. Even after this, the healthcare sector has come a long way as the doctors are working sincerely.
He said healthcare is basically like a product. Many have mistrusted the health department for not being able to present the quality of services in the media properly. Everyone needs to work together to bring back the lost gains of the past.
He added that it was not possible to change the image of the health department overnight.
Despite the shortage of manpower and medical equipment in the country's hospitals, patients are getting services. The cooperation of the government will be taken to identify the problems of the health department and solve them quickly.
The Director General of the Health Department thanked the Chittagong Divisional Health Director, District Civil Surgeon and the caretaker of the 250-bed Chittagong General Hospital for preserving the documentary of COVID-19 treatment.
Chittagong Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir presided over the meeting and District Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi was the special guest and Prof. Dr. Md. Samiul Islam was present in the meeting.
Dr. Asim Kumar Nath (Deputy Director), General Manager of Chittagong General Hospital presented illustrated information (Covid-19) through Power Point presentation. Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir presented illustrated information about Covid-19.
