‘Bangladesh Cultural Festival’ begins today

Cultural activities are still being conducted across the country today, encompassing the heritage of thousands of years of Bangladesh. Folk culture is one of the strengths that inform our individuality across the world.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised a multi-cultural programme aimed at creating a creative, human-oriented Bangladesh through the development of national culture and preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. In continuation to that, from (today) January 3 to January 23, for the second time, the ‘Bangladesh Cultural Festival 2020’ has been organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

This 21-day festival has be organised at the Nandan Mancha, with the participation of 64 districts and with the participation of more than 5,000 national level artistes of the country and over a hundred cultural organisations.

The festive has been arranged through various folk plays, folk dances and aesthetic presentations of the country’s artists. Every day there will be performances from artistes of 3 districts, 3 upazilas, and organisations. There will also be a folk drama from 8:00pm every night in the Shilpakala Academy premises.

A press conference was held on the afternoon of January 1 to highlight the details of the festival. Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, briefed the press conference at the seminar room of the Jatiyo Natyashala. At this time Academy secretary Md Badrul Anam Bhuiyan was also present including the directors and officers of various departments.

It was informed that the festivities will be inaugurated at Shilpakala Academy’s Nandan Mancha on Friday, January 3 at 4:00pm. Planning Minister MA Mannan will be present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will inaugurate the programme. Cultural Affairs Secretary Dr Md Abu Hena Mostafa will be the special guest on the occasion. 

The festivities of Bangladesh Cultural Festival include instrumental music, traditional folk games, pala, solo music, baul music, traditional folk plays, jatra, team dance, acrobatics, special needs children’s performances, puppet shows, solo recitals, children’s performances, and music and dance based on the War of Liberation, choreography of the play, recital of the band, recital of small ethnic groups, performances, music and dances on regional and district branding, and traditional audio visual exhibitions from the districts.
