Bangladesh and Australia on Tuesday discussed a range of bilateral and multilateral issues, including cooperation in trade, investment, energy, labour mobility and regional and global affairs.
Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Susan Ryle reaffirmed Australia’s continued support for Bangladesh in vocational training and health-related areas during a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at his office.
The envoy also assured that Australia would continue supporting Bangladesh in resolving the Rohingya crisis.
She said Australia and Bangladesh are closely cooperating at the United Nations and other international forums, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
State Minister Humaiun sought closer cooperation between Australian Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions and Bangladesh’s Technical Training Centres (TTCs), particularly in skills development.
He also sought Australian support for training Bangladeshi caregivers.
The state minister praised Australia’s continued support in addressing the Rohingya humanitarian crisis and expressed hope that the two countries would continue working closely towards a sustainable solution to the prolonged crisis.
