At the initiative of Bandarban Army Zone, financial assistance and winter clothes have been provided to the distressed people in the area.

On Wednesday at 10:00 am, the Bandarban Army Zone distributed warm clothes among 55 helpless families under Bandarban Army Region and handed over aroundTk 3 lakh.

Bandarban Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Moinul Haque was present as the chief guest. He said the role of the army in the hilly areas is like oxygen. The Bangladesh Army has been providing all possible assistance to the people living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, including the Bengalis, in times of emergency. Today's help is also an example of this.

He further said that the Bangladesh Army will continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of the people of all races and religions, including the small ethnic groups in the hilly areas, in the future and for any need.

Bandarban Army Zone, Bandarban Sadar and Roangchhari Upazilas are working tirelessly to maintain peace, harmony and development of the people as per the directions of Bandarban Region.

Sadar Upazila is inhabited by people of different ethnic groups including Mro, Tripura, Chakma, Marma and Thanchanga.

The people of the remote hilly areas usually depend on nature for their livelihood. The Bangladesh Army has been by the side of this community for more than five decades as a friend in dealing with any calamity.

Under the initiative of the Army, activities are underway to build houses, provide employment, pay for the education of children and provide financial assistance for medical services for the socio-economic development of the poor, minority and ethnic groups living in Bandarban Hill District.

The army is always trying to alleviate the suffering of the people by providing drinking water in remote areas during the dry season. In addition to raising awareness about the Covid-19 virus, emergency health care, food and medicine have been provided for the past two years.

Besides, school bags, books and stationery are being distributed among the students in different educational institutions. He also said that the army is always dedicated to the service of humanity. This trend will continue in the future as well.

Various army officers of Bandarban cantonment and journalists of various print and electronic media were present at the time.
