Bangladesh Ansar distributes relief among 1500 families

Daily essentials and food items have been distributed among 1500 corona-affected needy families in five upazilas of Gopalganj on Tuesday. Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force took the initiative to stand beside the distressed people.

Director of 21 Ansar Battalion and District  Commandant of Gopalganj District Ferdous Ahmed, Assistant District Commandant Mohammad Azharul Huda and Circle Adjutant Ajit Kumar Ghosh were present on the occasion. 

Relief items were distributed by maintaining social distancing.The food and daily essentials given to each family include 5kg rice, 2kg potatoes, 1kg pulses, 1kg onion, 1 litre cooking oil, a soap and a mask.

District Commandant Ferdous Ahmed told the media that, “Since it’s inception Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have been working for the welfare of the marginalised people of the country. During this critical period, our forces distributed food items to 1500 families of Gopalganj district.”

It is to be noted that since the first case of Corona (Covid-19) was detected in the country on March 8, the members of Ansar and Village Defense Force have been working relentlessly as per the directives of the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. 

Since the announcement of lockdown in Ghonapara and Chapail Bridge areas, one of the two entrances of Gopalganj district, Ansar and VDP members have been deployed and they maintained proper surveillance to ensure lockdown.
