Sri Lanka A defeated Bangladesh A in the opening match of Emerging Asia Cup on Thursday at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo as the hosts won the match by 48 runs.

Soumya Sarkar took 3 wickets for 52 runs in 5 overs and with bat he scored 42 runs. Batting first, Sri Lanka put 349 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, thanks to Avishka Fernando's century and Minod Bhanuka's half-century.

Avishka and Lasith Croospulle scored 51 runs in the opening partnership. Crosspulle was out for 31, Mahedi Hasan grabbed the wicket.

With the ball, Soumya took 3 wickets for 52 runs in 5 overs, while Ripon took 3 for 71 runs in 10 overs.
