Bangladesh women’s A cricket team completed their Sri Lanka tour with winning note after defeating their hosts’ counterparts by eight wickets in the fifth T20 match on Thursday.
After winning the last match, Bangladesh clinched the five-match T20 series by 4-1 following their One-day series by 1-0.
Bangladesh, who played under the banner of Women’s ‘A’ team, comprised the squad with maximum players from the national team. Apart from the national team’s captain Nigar Sultanana Joti, experienced Jahanara and Shamima Sultana were also included in the team for their Sri Lanka tour.
Bangladesh team showed their real muscles in the last match when after sending the hosts to bat first bundled out them just for 54 runs and chased the paltry target by 11 overs losing two wickets.
Bangladesh, after winning the toss sent the Sri Lanka Women ‘A’ team into bat and exposed with their strong bowling attack, as the hosts saw huge batting callapse at the early stage of their innings.
None of the batters but Chethana could reach to a double digit, as they were all out after scoring only 54 runs. Apart from Chethana, among the rest of 10 batters, five were oiut for ducks.
The last batter Chethana was the highest contributor with scoring 11 runs off 20 balls.
Rabeya Khan picked up three wickets when Nahida Akhter, Marufa and Fahima claimed one wicket apiece.
Chasing to paltry total, bangaldesh also saw an early damage losing two wickets for three runs, when opener Sathi Rani got out for a duck followed by number three Murshida also got out for three runs.
After the initial trouble, Bangladesh did not face any challenge, as opener Dilara along with wicketkeeper and Nigar Sultana Joti steered Banglades to reach the target. Dilara and joti scored unbeaten 33 and 25 runs respectively.
