‘Banglabandha land port to open after Eid’

Manoj Kumar, the Indian Assistant High Commissioner appointed in Rajshahi, said, "The Banglabandha land port of Panchgarh will be opened after the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday." Due to geographical reasons, this land port is becoming important for us in terms of trade.

The current import-export barriers between the two countries will be resolved soon. Trade will be further expanded through the widening of roads and the establishment of offices of Deputy Commissioners of Customs in the Indian part.'

He said this to reporters after visiting the Indian Visa Application Center located in Thakurgaon Puratan (old) Bus Stand area at 11:30 am on Monday.

He urged the stakeholders to be vigilant so that visa applicants for traveling to India do not suffer any kind of harassment. He warned the applicants not to charge more than the prescribed fee.

Thakurgaon Municipality Mayor Anjuman Ara Begum Banya, Thakurgaon Police Station OC Kamal Hossain, Indian Visa Application Center in charge Sohag Chandra Biswas and other officials were present.

Then he left for Banglabandha Land Port of Panchagarh by road. He went to Hili by road from Rajshahi at around 10 am on Sunday. At that time, when he reached rest house, the local administration and businessmen welcomed him with flowers.
