Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak on Thursday said that Bangabandhu has spent most of his political life working for the development of agriculture and farmers.

He said today everyone is self-sufficient in many sectors. We need to increase our production in agriculture. We need to increase the acceptability of our home grown products domestically and abroad .

The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest of the FBCCI's (Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries) virtual seminar titled "Bangabandhu's Agricultural Thoughts: Challenges and Prospects for the Future" on the occasion of Bangabandhu's 46th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day-2021

At the same time, he said that they will discuss at a high level to take the agro-industry forward by providing loans at 2% interest to the agro-processing industry. Through this, an agricultural revolution will take place and the farmers will directly benefit.

In his welcome address, the FBCCI President Mohammad Jasim Uddin said that when Bangabandhu first took the helm of the state after independence, there were many challenges.

In a war-torn country, with a broken economy, factory shutdowns and a broken communication system, the biggest challenge for Bangabandhu was to formulate policies for the country's economic system and to develop agriculture and farmers neglected for nearly 200 years and restore industry and trade.

State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam was also present on the occasion as a special guest. Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman presented the keynote address at the virtual seminar.

Dr. Ahsan H. Mansoor, Executive Director, Policy Research Institute, Sheikh Siraj, Founder Director, Impress Telefilm Ltd. and Channel I and Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Chairman, Pran Group participated in the panel discussion.
