During the countrywide lockdown announced to prevent the spread of Corona (Covid-19) virus, the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara of Gopalganj was closed down.

However, it was reopened on a limited scale from Saturday after remaining closed for almost two months by a government decision. This information was confirmed by Tungipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Hedayetul Islam.

The Gopalganj district administration on April 1 banned the public from entering the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to prevent corona (Covid-19) infection.

Tungipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Hedayetul Islam told the media that even if the tomb of the Father of the Nation is opened on a limited scale from Saturday, the ban on entry of tourists and locals will remain in force.

Only important people and heads of organizations can enter the tomb. However, considering the Corona situation, they must enter according to the hygiene rules.

He said locals and tourists would be allowed to enter the tombs as soon as the corona outbreak subsided.
