Bangabandhu, family recalled

The National Mourning Day and the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed across the country on Saturday (August 15) with due respect and solemnity.

Marking the day, the nation paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled his contributions to the country. The family members of Bangabandhu were also recalled on the day. Elaborates programmes were taken across the country to observe the day. Alongside Saturday, many programmes were also held on Sunday in different parts of the country.  

In Gazipur, marking the day, vegetables, financial assistance, educational materials and food items were distributed as gifts in the district, reports our Gazipur correspondent. 

Md. Abu Yusuf Khan, Assistant District Primary Education Officer, Gazipur was present as the chief guest.  Financial assistance was provided by Md Abu Yusuf Khan, Md. Jubair Alam Jewel, Assistant Deputy District Education Officer, Kapasia, Tok Bazar Banik Samiti, and Headmaster Alamgir Hossain. 

So far, educational materials and food items have been distributed to 464 extremely poor families of 18 government primary schools. 

Food items were also given to helpless families and cash money was given to 48 orphans Hafez Purua students. 

Md. Mozammel Haque Tok, Md. Mozammel Haque Manohardi, Md. Rafiq Uddin, Md. Belayet Hossain, Mahbur Rahman, Assistant Teacher Razia Akter Koli, Farzana Aimik, Farzana Lipi. Sikdar, Asadullah Masum, Akram Hossain Hiran and Saifullah Labib were present among others. 

In Pabna, on the occasion of the National Mourning Day, various organizations including Pabna District Council, District Administration, Police Administration, Pabna Press Club paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu, held discussion 

meetings, prayer ceremonies, tree saplings and food distribution programmes in Pabna, reports our Pabna Correspondent.

A minute's silence was observed at the Awami League party office at 8 am to pay homage to Bangabandhu and all the martyrs of his family. 

A discussion meeting and prayer ceremony was held at 11:30 am under the chairmanship of Rezaul Rahim Lal, Acting President of District AL unit and chairman of Pabna district council. 

District AL unit General Secretary Sohail Hasan Shahin presided over the meeting while General Secretary and Sadar MP Golam Faruk 

Prince, Pabna-Sirajganj reserved women's seat MP and District Women's AL unit President Nadira Yasmin Jolly, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman and Upazila AL Unit President Mosharraf Hossain and other members were 

present there.

In Jhenaidah, Juba League, the youth wing of ruling Awami League, observed the day on Saturday at Kalicharanpur union under Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. Leader of the organisation Jahangir Alam led the observation programme, reports our Roving Correspondent. 

The organisation arranged discussion, doa and milad mahfil at 14 important places in Kalicharanpur union.

Kalicharanpur union Awami League president Munshi Abdus Satter, vice president Modasser Hossain and general secretary Manwar Hossain among others were present at the programmes.

In Kurigram, the district administration, police department, district Awami League, Kurigram Municipality along with other government and none government organisations observed the day with due honor and solemnity, reports our Kurigram Correspondent. 

Awami League hoisted national flag half-mast at the party office at Goshpara, arranged a doa mahafil and mourning rally with black base which paraded main roads in the district town. 

Chairman of Zila Parisad chairman and former MP Md Jafore Ali, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammed Rejaul Karim, Police Super Md Mohibul Islam Khan, Civil Surgeon Dr Habibur Rahman, general sectary of district Awami League Aman Uddin Ahmed Monju, Kurigram municipality Mayor Abdul Jalil among others participated in the mourning rally.

The rally ended at the pavement of Sadinater Bijoy Stamvo where the participants placed wreaths to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
