Officials of the Bangladesh Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (BIDRA) said, “The ‘Bangabandhu Education Insurance’ is being introduced with BIDRA’s own fund.
“As per a pilot project, initially 50,000 students aged between 3 and 17 years will be able to avail the insurance policy,” the officials said.

Elaborating on the insurance policy, BIDRA Chairman, Dr M Mosharraf Hossain said, “Parents can avail the ‘Bangabandhu Education Insurance’ policy for their children aged between 3 and 17 years. Each parent will have to deposit only Tk 85 as an annual premium. In this regard, a government primary school, a government secondary school, a government technical institution and a madrasa (Alim level) from each of the 64 districts will be selected for the insurance policy,” said the BIDRA Chairman.
Officials of the BIDRA said that all the educational institutes concerned have already been asked for providing information about their students as per the requirements.
‘Bangabandhu Safety Insurance’ (Bangabandhu Surakkha Bima), the ‘Bangabandhu Health Insurance’ and the ‘Bangabandhu Sportsman Insurance’--are being introduced with the own finance of BIDRA.
