Agriculture officers including Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department of Chuadanga urged the farmers to cultivate 'Bangabandhu Dhan 100' which is also known as 'BRRI Dhan 100' at larger scale to get desired output against the variety and to achieve sustainable food security in 4 upazilas of Chuadanga district at an inaugural function of harvesting the paddy.
It is a high yielding variety rice which contains much protein and zinc.
This rice is similar to Nazirshail paddy.
The quality of the paddys’ rice is very good and the production of yield is satisfactor, said Deputy Director of Chuadanga Agriculture Extension Department Bevash Chandra Saha when he was addressing in his inaugural speech as chief guest.
'Bangabandhu Dhan 100' harvesting function was held on the land of farmer Bayzid Joarder at village Khezura under Podmabila union of Sadar Upazila in Chuadanga district on Sunday.
Sadar Upazila Agriculture Office arranged the function to give inspiration to the local farmers so that they are interested to farm the variety in coming seasons.
Upazila agriculture office Afrin Binte Aziz, Sub-assistant Agriculture Officers MA Karim, Shefaly Khatun, Amirul Islam, farmers Bayzid Joarder and Bipul Joarder spoke at the harvesting inaugural programme.
Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Afrin Binte Aziz stated on cultivation and technological methods of Bangabandhu Dhan 100 and urged upon the participants to disseminate about the paddy among the farmers in the district at the function.
