Bangabandhu and Swadhinata Book Fair begins in Ctg

A four-day 'Bangabandhu and Swadhinata Book Fair' has started in Chittagong on the initiative of the National Implementation Committee to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

 Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman inaugurated the Bangabandhu and Swadhinata Book Fair at Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy premises on Thursday afternoon.

 He said that future generations should be encouraged to read books.  There is no substitute for reading books.  Children's mental development occurs through reading books.  This is our effort to make students and the younger generation interested in reading books.  However, everyone needs to pay attention to hygiene. 

 The fair will play a helpful role in building an enlightened, knowledge-based, culture-minded and humane Bangladesh, including informing the new generation about the true history of the nation.

 Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said the 'Bangabandhu and Independence Book Fair' has been inaugurated at the premises of Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy on the initiative of National Implementation Committee to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.  The four-day book fair has been organized under the overall management of the Ministry of Culture, with the cooperation of the local government department and the implementation of the district administration.

 Chattogram District Administration Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Muhammad Mahmud Ullah Maruf presided over the function.  Deputy Director (Local Government) of Chattogram District Administration Dr Badiul Alam was the special guest on the occasion.

 The fair will continue till January 2.  This book fair will run every day from 3 pm to 9 pm.  Apart from this, cultural programs have been organized for the opening and closing days.
