A local Awami League leader was hacked to death by some unidentified miscreants at Hasanpara in Lama upazila of Bandarban on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Alamgir Sikder, 39, the joint secretary of Soroi union unit AL, hailed from Hasanpara area in the upazila.
Local people said, Alamgir, also the former chairman of Soroi union unit AL, had a long standing dispute with his neighbour over a piece of land.
He came under attack while returning home from his garden around 11pm.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Lama Police Station Appela Raju Naha said, "Injury marks are found on Alamgir's head and neck."
