A four-member probe body was formed over the fire that gutted about 200 shanties at two slums of T&T colony in the city’s Banani area in the early hours of Saturday, reports BSS.
“A four-member probe body headed by Deputy Director (development) of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Nur Hossain has been formed to investigate the fire incident and estimate the damages,” Duty Officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defense headquarters Ershad Hasan told BSS.
The casualties couldn’t be estimated immediately, he said. The fire broke out at Godown Slum and Bede Slum around 3:30am, the official said, adding that on information, 22 firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire at around 7:00am.
