The dwellers of Dhaka experienced an intolerable traffic jam in the city on Saturday due to a devastating fire incident at Bannai and road construction work.

The fire broke out at a building in Banani’s Chairman Bari area of the capital in the morning. The fire fighters blocked most of the roads in Banani area to extinguish the fire which caused huge traffic congestion in the city.

The fire was brought under control after seven hours with the efforts of 15 units of the fire service. The movement of traffic on that road became normal in the evening.

Due to the fire incident, the movements of vehicles were fully stopped at Banani, Moghbazar and Farmgate area and created a long tailback. The traffic jam in this area affected the movements of vehicles in other areas of the capital too.

All activities has resumed recently as the lockdown was lifted over a week ago. Currently construction work is being held at different places of Dhaka.

Many roads of Dhanmondi and Tejgoan areas were blocked for construction purposes. The roads could hardly be used by commuters.

However, gradually the pressure on the road started decreasing around evening time. Passengers and bus drivers who were stuck in traffic for a long time could move with some ease.
