The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has lifted the ban on all types of shipping. The ban was lifted on Friday morning.
The update was informed by Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, director of BIWTA's security and traffic department.
The ban on the activities of the two-engine boats was lifted from 12 noon on Thursday and the single-engine boats ban was lifted from 8am on Friday.
The cyclone Yaas caused the ban on shipping activities from May 25. The cyclone hit Odisha, India on 26 May.
Hostile weather caused heavy wind from the morning of May 26. Due to strong winds, big waves are created in different rivers including the Padma, along with strong currents.
As a result of the cyclone Yaas, dams were broken in many coastal areas of the country. A lot of those areas have been flooded by tidal waters.
Shimulia Ghat Traffic Police Inspector Zakir Hossain said that due to the ferry services being closed for about two days, a large number of small and big vehicles came to the wharf. At present about 540 vehicles are waiting to cross. The number of freight trucks and covered vans is higher among these vehicles. There are also small cars and buses. Vehicles are crossing as ferry traffic is normal.
