Theatre troupe Bahubachan staged its play ‘Aniket Sandhya’ at Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Sunday.

Written by Indian playwright Chandan Sen and directed by Ahram Alo, the play brings to light how elderly people are looked down in families.

‘Aniket Sandhya’, which literally means homeless evening, revolves around an octogenarian singer-composer Mukherjee who lives with his widower son Karnadev, grandson and grand daughter-in-law.

Mukherjee finds himself isolated and neglected by everyone in his family. He recollects his early days when his house was a center of cultural activities.

One day Mukherjee’s grandson and grand daughter-in-law decides to send him to an old age home as they are expecting a baby.

When Mukherjee prepares to go to an old age home, his son Karnadev also joins him as Karnadev knows he too will be neglected soon.

Arham Alo, Nur Rehan, Mahmud, Rumana, Toufiqur Rahman and others acted in the play.
