BAF hands over relief supplies to Lebanon

Humanitarian aid and relief supplies for the victims of the massive explosion that rocked Beirut a few days back, carried by C-130J transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force, was handed over to Lebanon on Monday in the presence of the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Lebanon Maj Gen Md Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman along with the representatives of the Lebanese government in attendance. 

According to the statement by ISPR, the Government of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were highly appreciated during the official handover of emergency medical supplies and relief items. 

BAF has always been providing air transport services to carry relief and humanitarian assistance to the victims of any disaster in the friendly countries as per the guidance of the government on an emergency basis, read an ISPR handout. 

In line with this, emergency relief, medical supplies, a physician and a Naval technical team to assess the real scenario of the damaged naval ship were sent to Lebanon on Monday as humanitarian assistance to help the affected Bangladeshi expat, local people of Lebanon and members of Bangladesh Navy deployed in the UN peacekeeping operations in Beirut.

The mission consisting of 12 BAF aircrew was led by Group Captain Santanu Chowdhury of BAF. 

Humanitarian and relief assistance activities conducted by the government as a token of friendship are expected to further enhance the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Lebanon.
