An aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force left Bangladesh for China on Tuesday morning for bringing five lakh doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine.

Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) in an official hand out confirmed the information.

A C-130J transport aircraft of BAF left for China around 8:12am to bring the Chinese Covid-19 vaccines, the ISPR press release reads.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming on May 10 officially announced the arrival of five lakh doses of the vaccine on May 12.

The World Health Organization (WHO) listed the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use, giving the green signal for this vaccine to be rolled out globally.

The Sinopharm vaccine is produced by Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG).

Bangladesh is keeping up its intensified efforts to get Oxford-AstraZeneca and China's Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines from India, the United States and China.
