I think AB
is still alive somewhere
Kumar Bishwajit
I can’t believe that one year has passed without me talking or meeting Bachchu. It is a strange feeling. I haven’t yet deleted his phone number from my cell phone. Generally we delete the numbers of those who have passed away while scrolling though the phone book. I know that I won’t be able to talk to him anymore still I haven’t been able to get myself to delete the phone number. I think that Bachchu is still alive somewhere and I haven’t been able to meet him. When this day has come, I cannot believe it. I didn’t meet him for one year. It is very heart rending. I have many memories with him. From young age to adult life, there are numerous memories I have with him. We only had one dream, to come to Dhaka and do something good and enlighten the name of Chattogram. Bachchu has been successful in his work. No one can do so many things in one life. What he has achieved is really great. I wish him peace.

I suffer from depression whenever I talka bout Bachchu bhai and I feel really down. I have mourned for Bachchu bhai this whole year. I still cannot accept that he is no more with us. The fact that he has passed away is of great pain for me. I have also become aged still I cannot forget him at all. He will remain alive through his work. I had a special relationship with him other than work. I remember him every day. I couldn’t believe that he would leave us so suddenly and it has already been one year. I get silent whenever I remember that he is no more and that we have passed a year without him. I pray for the peace of his soul. I want to wish all the best to his family. We have nothing to do except pray for him.

The first show of Obscure was done by AB

There is no end to our memories with Ayub Bachchu bhai. Ever since the release of our band’s debut album, we used to practice regularly. We used to meet regularly with him. The first show of Obscure was by Bachchu bhai. He one day asked us, ‘Do you do live shows?’ we answered that we hadn’t yet. He told us that there was a show at Chattogram and for us to perform there. It was back in 1987. Since then until the time he passed away we were always in contact. The last memory I have of him is the one when we were going to Kolkata before the Band Fest on Channel-i last year. Then he called me. Bachchu bhai said that this time something new can be done with Band Fest and told me to call him after coming back from Kolkata. Then we were supposed to plan and sit together. That is the last word I had with him. I didn’t get to meet him again. I wish the peace for the soul of Bachchu bhai.

May Bachchu bhai rest in peace

There was a time when me and Bachchu bhai used to sit on the roof top of his Mogbazar home every day. This is in the mid-nineties. He had a lanter. Just the two of us used to hangout together. One day, he was playing a tune on the guitar while he was chatting. I told his to play the tune three times more and after hearing it I immediately wrote the song ‘Sukhri Prithibi Shukheri Obhinoy’. About a year or two later, he called me from Audio Art. He had done the song for a new music company. It was not like he did the tune and I wrote the songs most of the cases. We used to share our themes and ideas while chatting. His last days were very emotional for me. It is really painful for me. Now I try not to get emotional with people. Many blessings for Bachchu bhai. May he rest in peace.
