AWMC celebrates Pitha festival

Pitha (rice cake) is mixed with the traditional culture of Bengali for thousands of years. Whenever the mood of winter comes, pitha-puli, pies comes to people’s mind. A Pitha festival was held at Ad-din Women's Medical College to preserve the culture of this Pitha festival of Bengali.

Ad-din Women's Medical College authorities organized this Pitha festival on Tuesday at 10 am in the college premises. During the event, college students decorated various stalls with harem types of Pithas. In the winter morning, Puli Pitha, Chitai Pitha, Vapa Pitha, Jamai Pitha, Nakshi Pitha, Patisapta and other types of Pitha are available in these stalls.

Professor Dr. Mahmuda Hasan, Principal of Ad-din Women's Medical College, Professor Dr. Afiqur Rahman, Advisor of Ad-Deen Foundation and former Principal of Medical College, Professor Dr. Nahid Yasmin, Director General of Ad-din Hospitals, and teachers of various departments of the college visited each stall.

The students who came to the event expressed their enthusiasm and said that pitha is not only a food, it is associated with the tradition of village Bengal. Let the Bengali tradition and culture spread in everyone's lives through this festival.

Professor Dr Mahmuda Hasan, Principal of Ad-din Women's Medical College, said, "Pitha festival is associated with the thousand-year-old culture of Bengalis." Ad-din Women's Medical College has organized Pitha festival to bring out the taste of village Pitha. Because of this festival, we can smell and taste the Pitha of our village.

Students, officers and employees of Ad-din Women's Medical College of different years were present in the Pitha festival. 4 stalls were declared the best Pitha stalls in the event.
