The World Mosquito Day was observed on Sunday (August 20) aiming at creating awareness about mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, zika, dengue, and chikungunya.
On the occasion, Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) conducted a campaign to raise public awareness about dengue mosquitoes. A colourful procession was brought out in the port city.
The procession started from in front of the Chandgaon B Block mosque in the city.
With the help of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, the purpose of this campaign programme was to increase public awareness about mosquitoes.
CCC Mayor Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury led the procession and took part in the campaign programme.
The Mayor said that along with government initiatives, public awareness is needed for mosquito control.
During the campaign programme, the CCC Mayor along with others handed over awareness leaflets to the residents and supervised the mosquito control activities.
Secretary of City Red Crescent Abdul Jabbar, Councillor M Ashraful Alam, Esrarul Haque, Vice Chairman of Chattogram City Red Crescent Unit Md. Alamgir Parvez, Mayor's Private Secretary Abul Hashem participated in the occasion.
