In a bid to put the party on a sound footing, the ruling Awami League has identified 'infiltrators', says General Secretary Obaidul Quader. Speaking to the media on Thursday (Oct 31) after a meeting of the party's secretaries, he said that the list was being sent to all units across the country.

The move came to prevent controversial people to make to the committees of units, said the senior party leader. According to him, infiltrators have been listed based on inputs by the party chiefs own sources and intelligence agencies. She [party chief] has forwarded the list to the party. We are alert over controversial individuals and infiltrators making to the party units, said Quaer.

The units across the country will also receive a 'circular' over the matter, he said before adding Committees have to be formed in line with the party charter. Sources within the party have blamed infiltration of BNP-Jamaat men for the internal feuds in the party units at the grassroots level. Many leaders also made arrangement for the infiltrators to join the party to establish their authority which had a negative impact on the units.
