The United Kingdom will provide necessary support for the development of Bangladesh’s aviation sector, including the purchase of passenger and cargo aircraft from Airbus.
The two countries signed a joint communique with the aim of strengthening the aviation industry of Bangladesh through ‘Aviation Partnership’ and creating new jobs in both countries.
The communiqué was signed by Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman on behalf of Bangladesh and Lord Dominic Johnson, Investment Minister of the United Kingdom on Friday.
As a result of this initiative, besides the development of Bangladesh’s aviation industry, Bangladesh’s commercial relations with other European partners of Airbus including the UK will also be strengthened.
It is also informed that Bangladesh can also get long-term loan facilities from the UK’s export finance on easy terms for the purchase of aircraft from Airbus.
In a response after the signing of the Joint Communiqué, UK Investment Minister Lord Dominic Johnson said, “Through a working aviation partnership, Bangladesh's aviation industry will be strengthened and new jobs will be created in both countries.”
Advisor to the Prime Minister Salman F Rahman said, “As a result of this initiative, a long and effective relationship can be established between Airbus and Bangladesh Biman. Through which Bangladesh’s current relations with the UK, France, Germany and the European Union can be strengthened.”
This initiative will play an important role in the expansion and diversification of the aviation sector in Bangladesh. This can take the aircraft capacity to a much higher level in passenger and cargo business.
At this time, the Chief Secretary of the Prime Minister M. Tofazzal Hossain Miah and UK Prime Minister’s Bangladesh Trade Envoy Roshanara Ali MP were present.
