Australia to appoint Bangladeshis in ICT sector

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) and the Australian company Sterning for the employment of Bangladeshis in the ICT sector in Australia.

BOESL Managing Director Billal Hossain and Sterning Operation Director Paul Egan signed the agreement during an online programme on Thursday.

Under the agreement, Sterning will make arrangements for the employment of skilled manpower in the ICT sector of Bangladesh for their various client companies in Australia. 

According to the demand of Sterning in the ICT sector, BOESL will supply qualified candidates from Bangladesh. Under the MoU, ICT professionals will get job opportunities in Australia for the next three years.

BOESL’s Managing Director Billal Hossain said, “This agreement will pave the way for sending Bangladeshi skilled manpower to Australia. We have taken the initiative to send only skilled professionals in the ICT sector at present. More companies are being contacted so that Bangladeshis of other professions can be sent to Australia.”

Sterning Founder and CEO Joseph Merz said, “There are many skilled IT professionals in Bangladesh. There is a significant shortage of skilled IT professionals in Australia. Bangladeshi skilled professionals can help fill this gap.”

Consulate General of Bangladesh in Sydney Khandaker Masudul Alam, said, “This is the first time BOESL has signed an agreement with an Australian company. This will facilitate employment opportunities for Bangladeshi professionals in Australia.” 

Counsellor (Labour) of Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra Md Salahuddin, Executive Manager of BOESEL Md Mahabubur Rahman and Assistant General Manager Noman Chowdhury were also present during this time.
