Aug 21 grenade attack a continuation of Aug 15 carnage

Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the JatiyaSangsad Begum Matia Chowdhury on Thursday said August 21, 2004 grenade attack was carried out in continuation of August 15, 1975 carnage. 

"Killers of August 15, 1975 and August 21, 2004 are still active in the country," she said while speaking at a discussion making the 19th death anniversary of Begum Ivy Rahman as the chief guest at Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

 Matia said the masterminds of August 21, 2004 grenade attack are still hatching conspiracy against the country as they want to make the country leaderless.

Describing Begum Ivy Rahman as a worker-friendly and pro-people leader, she urged the AL leaders and workers to take lesson from Ivy Rahman.

AL Joint General Secretary MahbubulAlamHanif criticized BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir who recently said that they would oust the present government through creation Tsunami.

Terming the August 21 grenade attack as a state-sponsor terrorist acts, Hanif said the brutal grenade attack was carried out at the directive of Tarique Rahman and HawaBhaban, he added.

Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM EnamulHaqueShameem said the killers of Aug 21, 2004 had launched grenade attack on the AL leaders and activists under the patronization of the state.

 AL relief and social welfare affairs secretary Aminul Islam Amin, KanizFatema Ahmed, MP, SwadhinataShikkhakParishad secretary general ShahjahanAlamSaju and Dhaka Union of journalist (DUJ) vice-president Manik Lal Ghosh, among others, spoke in the discussion.

 Begum Ivy Rahman's 19th death anniversary observance committee president MA Karim presided over the meeting.
