A team of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) arrested a member of an online gambling platform from Khilkhet police station area on a tip-off at 10 am on Sunday. The arrested person is Hafiz Al Asad. His house is in Godabari upazila of Rajshahi. During the arrest, the Anti-Terrorism Unit seized 01 smart phone and 01 SIM card from them, which were used to operate the online gambling platform. Later, according to the information given by him, 1 more SIM card was recovered from Chapainawabganj. He completed his diploma from Bogra Polytechnic Institute. On January 27, the ATU arrested Rana Mia and Reza Ahmed, members of 2 online gambling platforms, in a raid in Koloni Bazar area of Bogra district headquarters.
After the arrest of Rana Mia and Reza Ahmed, the absconding accused in the case Hafiz Al Asad sold 02 mobiles (iPhone 13 and Techno Spark 7) used for online gambling platform. The arrested accused used to conduct illegal gambling on online gambling websites through the use of Facebook ID and Facebook group, transact gambling money on mobile financial services and encourage various people to participate in online gambling platform ‘1xbet’ through money/dollars. A lot of common people have suffered because of his actions. He had been running online gambling for a long time through online gambling platforms with the help of other unnamed accused.
