Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday said for 28 years, many attempts were made to remove name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the history of Bangladesh. “Many attempts were made to remove name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the history of Bangladesh. But none were successful. Whether we want or not, none can separate Bangabandhu from the history of this country,” he said.

Anisul came up with the observations while presiding over a preparatory meeting on celebrating birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the ministry. “We have to reach the fruits of Bangabandhu’s thought to people. He had formulated many laws. We have to realize the fact that laws cannot be formulated overnight. It is not like the country got liberated on December 16 and the acts were formulated on January 15. The thought process has to start from much earlier,” he added.

The minister asked the officials to take up different programmes to celebrate Bangabandhu’s birth centenary and a couple of sub-committees were formed in this regard. A supervisory committee was also formed led by the minister himself.
