Moinul Shah of Durgapur village attempted to withdraw money by writing a large amount on the page of a lost cheque of freedom fighter Mohammad Abdur Jabbar of the same village under Biaghat union of the upazila.

According to area and GD sources, on June 1, the freedom fighter Jabbar Ali signed the cheque from home. He could not write the amount to have a loan. Thinking that he would write the amount after hearing the balance in the bank, he left home for the purpose of withdrawing the honorarium of Tina to Gurudaspur Sonali Bank.

After returning home, he did not find the cheque sheet and lodged a GD with Gurudaspur police station on June 11. He also withdrew the honorarium with the new cheque book.

The cheque was found by Moinul Shah on 12 June and he tried to withdraw the amount by depositing 7 lakh Tk like his own. Moinul has become the owner of a huge amount of money by negotiating interest with many people in the area. Many people have been deprived of the area due to his immoral practice.

Area sources said that all these people are getting away with it as there are powerful people with Moinul.

The victim, freedom fighter Abdur Jabbar, said, "Moinul is lives on withdrawing interest from people in the area. He was trying to harass me in various ways with my lost cheque. I am a very sick person with two heart attacks.”

He demanded a fair trial from the police administration."

Moinul Shah said that he gave me the cheque with Tk 6 lakh in cash. However, he said that he did not have any witness or written statement.

Heroic freedom fighter Mokhles Master said, Moinul is an interest dealer. At first Moinul considered me as a witness or I was at the time of the transaction. Moinul is speaking one by one. He demanded the administration to take action against the usurers.
