A sensational information has come to light about an attempt to defame a top official of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and demand money by misusing digital technology.
It has been alleged that a vested interest group is blackmailing the director of the port department of the organization, AKM Arif Uddin, by creating fake and objectionable videos with the help of artificial intelligence or AI technology.
According to the relevant sources, a certain group has been involved in various conspiracies to tarnish the professional and personal image of the said official for a long time.
In the past, they were unable to benefit from various anonymous complaints and spreading misleading information in the media, but now they have edited a completely fabricated and objectionable video with the help of modern technology. The gang is then demanding a large sum of money by threatening to spread the fake content on social media and the internet.
The victim officer AKM Arif Uddin has expressed strong anger and protest against this heinous blackmail attempt. In a statement, he said "A fake video has been deliberately used to question my honesty and morality, which has no relation to reality. This is just a heinous conspiracy created by misusing modern technology."
He also said that he has specifically appealed to the administration, media workers and the general public not to be misled by such propaganda on digital platforms. At the same time, it is also known that preparations are underway to take legal action against this criminal gang.
