Miscreants have tried to kill a Hafizia Madrasa student named Mehedul Hasan Habibullah (15) by cutting his throat with a sharp weapon in Aba's Roumari. His comrades rescued him and admitted him to Rowmari Hospital. The doctor on duty referred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The incident took place at Roumari Bazar Islamia Hafezia Madrasa in Roumari upazila of Kurigram around 10:30 pm on Friday.
According to police and local sources, the miscreants tried to kill Mehedul Hasan Habibullah with a sharp weapon in his throat as soon as he entered the under-construction building of the madrasa after having dinner at Maidul Islam's house in Kabarsthanpara.
He then ran to the washroom, shouting for help. At that time, some students including Al Amin and Sajedul Islam went to the washroom to respond to the call of nature. After rescuing Mehedul Hasan in critical condition, he was admitted to Rowmari Hospital.
The doctor on duty referred him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital as his condition was critical. He is the son of Tara Miah of Balimari Camppara village in Char Rajibpur upazila. Injured student's grandfather Joynal Abedin has filed a case in the name of 3/4 unidentified persons. There is frustration among the student parents in the incident.
Investigating officer Ansar Ali said no clue had been found so far.
Roumari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Montasser Billah said the matter was being seriously investigated and legal action would be taken after the investigation.
