According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, in recent times, hackers have been involved in fraudulent activities through mobile and ATM banking. They are engaging in this fraud in the greed of earning more money. The law enforcement investigation has revealed that hackers have recently stolen money from ATM booths in several places in the country.

However, citing the government initiatives alone are not enough to establish a healthy cyber culture in the country, post and telecommunication minister said, “Everyone, including government and non-government partners have to work together from their respective places. From the grassroots level, parents need to create awareness regarding their children’s use of technology”.

The minister has called on parents to take responsibility for building a healthy cyber generation. Therefore, he has emphasized on creating awareness among the parents from the grassroots.

The minister said that the capability of the police has increased centrally in the last few years. However, the crime has now reached the villages. Therefore, every police station is trying to increase the use of technology in crime detection.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Forensic) of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Mostofa Kamal Rashed said, “Every department of the police has been working to control cyber crime since 2016”.

He shared that cyber crime is on the rise among children. Cybercrime has also increased through social media as well as online shopping and gaming apps.
