Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said that maintenance of roads is the responsibility of the city corporation but there are other departments holding responsibilities in the sector. That is why there is no control anywhere. It should entirely come under the city corporation.
The mayor made the comment while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the biennial general meeting of the Reporters Village Welfare Society at the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters' Unity in the city on Wednesday afternoon.
The mayor said, "Traffic management needs to be digitised. Modern traffic management needs to be implemented through traffic lights. We have to come out of the manual system of controlling traffic with hand.”
Members of Dhaka Reporters' Unit are working for the implementation of housing project in the name of DRU Multipurpose Cooperative Society at Pularte, Uttarakhan, added the DNCC mayor.
He further mentioned that a few days ago, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the development work of 18 new wards. By completing this development work, the new area will be turned into a model town.
Architect Mobasher Hossain and other senior reporters also spoke on the occasion. The event was chaired by Ayub Bhuiyan, president of the society.
