Although the election schedule has not been yet declared, Mayor and Councilor aspirants for Lakshmipur Municipality have become active.
Nomination seekers for contesting the elections have started campaigning activities. Leaders of Awami League and some other parties also began lobbying within their parties to get support. They are taking part in mass contact programme ahead of the elections to draw attention of the voters.
It was known that the election schedule for the Lakshmipur Municipality polls will be declared soon as tenure of the existing elected representatives would end within some weeks.
As the election is closed at hand, the probable candidates and nomination seekers from Awami League and other parties have been joining various programmes, including view-exchange meeting, to woo voters.
Gias Uddin Rubel Bhat is one of the Mayor aspirants for Lakshmipur Municipality. He is a nomination seeker from ruling Awami League. He has already began campaigning activities.
A view-exchange was held on behalf of Gias Uddin Rubel Bhat at Raipur Dakbangla auditorium in the district town on Saturday night. Raipur Upazila AL President and Upazila Chairman Principal Mamunur Rashid was present at the event as the chief guest. Municipal unit Awami League President Jamshed Kabir Baki Billa presided over the meeting, while Gias Uddin Rubel Bhat spoke on the occasion. Apart from local Awami League leaders, activists of Juba League, Chhatra League and other organizations also gathered from different parts of the upazila at the meeting.
Gias Uddin Rubel Bhat believe that he will get ticket from the Awami League. He also said that he is hopeful about victory in the upcoming elections.
