Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Benazir Ahmed on Monday said that police will gain capability in three-dimensional field with the launch of Aviation Wing of police.
"The newly-formed police aviation wing will play a vital role in quick communication, conducting important operations, search operations and rescue operations in remote areas," he added.
He also expressed special gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for allowing the launch of the police aviation.
The IGP said the Army Aviation School played a special role in training the pilots of the newly formed aviation wing of police. He said the armed forces, especially the army, have good professional relations and cooperation with the Bangladesh Police. He hoped that the field of such cooperation would be further enhanced and well integrated in future.
The IGP exchanged views with a delegation of Army Aviation School led by Major General IKM Mostahsinul Baki, Group Commander of the Army Aviation Group at the Hall of Pride in Police Headquarters.
The IGP said the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Police have a long history and tradition of working side by side in any need and crisis of the country.
Comparing security with oxygen, the IGP said that just as no human being can survive without oxygen, a society or state cannot be imagined without security.
He said Bangladesh Police is engaged in providing security to the lives and property of 160 million people of the country. He expressed his firm belief that whatever is needed will be done for the needs of the country and the people.
Group Captain of Army Aviation Group Major General IKM Mostahsinul Baki said that the trainees of Bangladesh Police are participating in the training with great interest and sincerity. He hopes that they will be able to develop themselves as qualified pilots.
Ten trainees from different forces are currently participating in the Aviation Basic course at the Army Aviation School. Four of them are from Bangladesh Police. All four police trainees have already successfully completed their solo flight. They will join the police aviation wing as pilots.
DIG (Logistics) Md. Tawfiq Mahbub Chowdhury among others spoke on the occasion. Assistant Superintendent of Police Fatema Tuj Johra shared her feelings about the thrilling experience of the training.
Additional IGs of Police Headquarters and senior officers concerned were present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that the purchase of two modern helicopters from Russia for the aviation wing of Bangladesh Police is currently in process.
