Jyotsna Biswas is known by her own identity. She is the pioneer of this country’s jatra culture and theatre. Her husband, Amalendu Biswas, was the jatra samrat of this country. In1989, Amalendu Biswas was presented the Ekushey Padak. Again, in 2011 Jyotsna Biswas was presented the Ekushey Padak. Both were awarded the Ekushey Padak in recognition of their special contribution to the jatra industry. Daughter of Jyotsna Biswas is popular actress Aruna Biswas. This time she is making a documentary about her mother. She has already begun its work.
The actress said that after making a documentary about her mother, she will make another about her father, Amalendu Biswas. Aruna Biswas is going to produce two documentaries to inform the contribution of these two legends in the jatra industry from generation to generation. Jyotsna Biswas has been performing in the jatra industry for the last 45 years. She also gives directions too. She last performed on a jatra stage about ten months ago.
Meanwhile, Jyotsna Biswas is going to be awarded the ‘Nagorik Natya Sampradaya Award’ by the ‘Nagorik Natya Sampradaya’ in recognition of her lifetime contributions.
She has confirmed that the award will be handed over to her on December 5 at Shilpakala Academy in Segun Bagicha of the capital. Jyotsna Biswas and her well-to-do daughter Aruna Biswas are see this award as a great achievement from a major theater troupe in the country.
Jyotsna Biswas said, “Earlier, I have been honored with many other awards, including Ekushey Padak at the national level and lifetime honors by many other organizations. However, it is the first time any theater troupe has presented me with honors. I offer my sincere gratitude and thanks to the organizers for the reason that so many other legendary and talented theater personalities will be honored with the same honor. It's giving a lot of happiness.”
Aruna Bishas said, “Due to my parents, my family and I are very honored at various places. It is good and makes me proud. My mother is being honored by Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, which is very good. I'm really excited to be her daughter and I’m so happy. I'm making a documentary about my mother. After completing this, I will start making documentary about my father. I will bring out the important parts of the life of my father and mother.
Aruna, meanwhile, is a member of the censor board in addition to being regular in acting. She is also acting in a new movie directed by Jashim where Shatabdi Wadud is opposite her.
