BFDC is hot on the demand of boycott and resignation of Misha Sawdagor and Zayed Khan, leaders of Bangladesh Film Artists Association.

Tensions escalated at the BFDC since noon on July 19. On the same day, there was a press conference of the Artists’ Association in the evening to protest the boycott.

At the beginning of the press conference, the leaders of the organization called for unity. And, if the boycott is not lifted within the next seven days, the Artists’ Association will go on strike. Misha Sawdagor, president of the association, raised the issue.

He said, “We are afraid, don’t try to scare us. Once we overcome our fear, we will not spare any issue to speak upon. We want peace. It is for peace that we request to solve this problem. Otherwise, the artists will go on break from work, in the next one week.”

Misha added, “Hopefully, all the problems will be solved within the next one week. All this was not needed in this time of Corona. If needed, we could have solved it through discussion. Hopefully, that will be the solution.”

Jackie Alamgir, Advertising Secretary of the Artists’ Association, was the first to address the press conference conducted by actor Rubel. Rubel said, “If you have the qualifications, you will come back to us as a full fledge member, I hope.”

At the beginning of his speech, Ilias Kanchan, former Election Commissioner and Filmmaker of the Film Association, praised the various activities of the present Artistes’ Association during his tenure.

Regarding the boycott of the producers’ association, he said, “Artists are a part of the film. Mistakes are made by humans. The film will not be able to move forward without anyone.”

Misha Sawdagor, president of the boycotted artists and artists association, and Zayed Khan, general secretary, spoke at the three-hour press conference.

Zayed Khan said that he was boycotted because he was violent in his work. There is a conspiracy from outside to put him in danger. Many are filing false cases.

It is to be mentioned that 18 organizations of the film have ‘boycotted’ Misha Sawdagor and Zayed Khan, the two main leaders of the Bangladesh Film Artists’ Association, for their ‘anti-interest activities’.

The decision was announced at a press conference at BFDC’s Zaheer Raihan Color Studio on Wednesday, which was led by the Producers Distributors Association. Then on July 19, 186 members of the Shilpi Samiti lost their membership by demanding the resignation of these two leaders.
