Dhaka International Folk Fest 2019

Artistes from six countries to perform

Folk songs are intricately intertwined with the thousand year old Bangladeshi tradition and culture. The Dhaka International Folk Fest, one of Asia's biggest folk music festivals, is being organised every year since 2015 by the Sun Foundation. This year will be the fifth rendition of the festival.

The great festival of folk music is going to be held from 14-16 November starting from 6:00pm-12:00am at the Bangladesh Army Stadium. At this festival, the audience will get to enjoy the songs of the best folk artistes from the country and abroad.

A press conference was held at a hotel in the capital yesterday on the occasion of 'Dhaka International Folk Fest 2019'. Anjan Chowdhury, Chairman of Sun Foundation and Sun Communications Limited, Managing Director and CEO of Dhaka Bank Limited, Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Head of Operations of Square Toiletries Ltd Md Sayeed and renowned folk artiste and music researcher Fakir Shahabuddin were present.

More than 20 folk artistes from around the world, including Bangladesh, will participate in this event.

Notable artists include Shah Alam Sarkar of Bangladesh, Malek Kawal, Kajal Dewan, Fakir Shahabuddin, Chandana Majumder, Kamruzzaman Rabbi and Shafiqul Islam of Bauliana, Prema and Bhabana Nritya Dal, India's Mehedi, Pakistan's Junoon and Hina Nasrullah, Sattuma from Russia, Shevenenburebi from Georgia and Habib Koite and Hamad from Mali.

Just like previous times, this time too the audience will be able to enjoy the show live without any fees just by registering online. Registration will run from November 6 to 10. 

You have to register on the website— dhakainternationalfolkfest.com . Scanned copy of passport size picture and national identity card or driving license will also be required. Once the registration is completed, the visitor will receive e-mail with three different entry passes for three days.
