Mickey Arthur has been unveiled as the new 'consultant' head coach of Sri Lanka's men's cricket team. The 51-year-old South African takes over from Rumesh Ratnayake, who served in the role in an interim capacity.
Ratnayake filled in for the home series against Sri Lanka and
the limited-overs series in Pakistan after then incumbent Chan
dika Hathurusinghe had to be let go with the country's sports ministry dissatisfied with the team's results through the first
half of 2019.
The Sri Lanka job will be Arthur's fourth high-profile role in international cricket. He has previously coached South Africa, Australia and until recently, Pakistan. Arthur's tenure with Pakistan ended earlier this year after the team failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 2019 World Cup.
During his tenure, however, Pakistan clinched the 2017 Champions Trophy and ascended to the top of the Test and T20I
